The Great Okanagan Beer Festival names charitable partner

The festival will work alongside Natures Wild Neighbours Society

Great Okanagan Beer Festival Beer Festival, presented by The Train Station Pub, has announced Natures Wild Neighbours Society as its charitable partner for the 2019 festival.

Partial proceeds from tickets sold to Great Okanagan Beer Festival, presented by The Train Station Pub, will be donated to the society.

“We really wanted to focus on environmental initiatives and bring awareness and advocacy,” said Katrina Frew, director of festivals and events. “The Natures Wild Neighbours society is the perfect partnership for us, and very fitting that we should join hands on our 5th anniversary as they celebrate their 20th anniversary this year as well.”

Natures Wild Neighbours society, founded by Robert Bateman in 1999, promotes environmental education in hopes of raising a generation of youth inherently aware of their impact on the environment, as well as provides students the opportunity to learn about civic and environmental responsibility. The Get to Know Contest & Exposition, one of Natures Wild Neighbours many programs, provides an innovative way for students to connect with nature, develop an understanding, appreciation, and respect for biodiversity and share their experience through artistic expression. The annual Get to Know Contest & Exposition runs from May 1 to Nov. 1 each year and is open to school-aged students and youth organizations.

“For me, success would be to raise a generation of youth who are inherently aware of their impact on the environment and how their positive interaction with nature and wildlife can help preserve our natural environment” said Darlene Brule, executive director of Natures Wild Neighbours Society. “We must do this for ourselves and for our children. Protect and guard Mother Earth. She is counting on us.”

Great Okanagan Beer Festival, presented by The Train Station Pub, takes place May 9 to 11, with the Main Event taking place Saturday May 11 at Waterfront Park. Advanced general admission tickets and all access passes are currently on sale now at, with the next tier of tickets soon to launch.
