What do cheese knish, kimchi, fritule, arepas, gelato and bannock have in common?

They are some of the foods available for sampling at the Taste of Home Saturday, Feb. 2 at Mainstreet Centre (2041 Harvey Ave) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There will also be jerk chicken, bubble tea, tacos, falafel, dolmathes and much more, according to a Taste of Home news release. Small plates of delicious flavours from around the world are just part of the fun of this great family event: the stage also features performers showcasing traditional songs and dances from their culture. From Mexican folklore to Indian Bhangra, West African dancing, Scottish Highlands, Ukrainian Poltava, Chinese Lion dancers and more, performers will wow audiences with bright colourful costumes and fabulous musical traditions.

Taste authentic flavours. Experience traditions in song and dance. More than 30 cultural groups will be participating and it’s the perfect time to meet people from around the world and learn about the culture and crafts of their homeland. The event also features a Living Library Dialogue Circle, where performers exchange stories that share the cultural meanings and histories of their art form, the release said.

Taste of Home kicks off a series of Global Citizen Events in the Central Okanagan that will run through February. More info available at www.globalcitizenevents.com.
