This Family Day the Kelowna Art Gallery has created a full day of art activities, family-friendly tours and special programming for children and adults.

On Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. step in out of the cold and explore four fascinating exhibitions on view before getting creative with a hands-on art activity.

One of the shows to see is The Poetics of Space, which features a range of work by 29 different artists—from a painting by Emily Carr to a large and intriguing pipe sculpture by Roland Brener.

Also be sure to check out Our Lives Through Our Eyes: Nk’Mip Children’s Art, which presents works of art created by children and youth who attended the Inkameep4 Day School, located on the Osoyoos Indian Band reserve, over 80 years ago during the era of World War II.

Family-friendly exhibition tours will be offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Afterwards, young artists and their families can explore printmaking and create their very own one-of-a kind printed tote bag. Using block printing inks, a traditional printing press, and artist-quality printmaking tools, participants will discover a mono-printing technique and uncover their creativity. Everything that is needed for the activity will be provided and the Gallery’s helpful staff will be on hand to assist.

The gallery’s Art Lab will also be open and will offer a number of self-directed activities for creative play at all ages.

The cost is $5 per participant.
