A very literary weekend is on the horizon for Salmon Arm.
Word on the Lake Writers’ Festival runs from Friday, May 19 through Sunday, May 21, beginning with Café Lit and refreshments at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort on Friday night. Saturday will see workshops all day and a red-carpet event at the Prestige Saturday night, followed by a variety of workshops Sunday – these to be held at the Salmon Arm campus of Okanagan College.
On Saturday, book sales will take place all day in the hotel’s main hall.
A special event Sunday morning at the college will be the book launch of The Almost Widow, the latest novel from the Shuswap’s international award-winning author Gail Anderson-Dargatz.
Although regular registration for the writers’ festival closed on May 15, on-site registration is available with cash or credit card (no meals). Registration opens at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 19 in the hotel lobby.
Presenters at the festival include Theresa Kishkan, Chris (C.C.) Humphreys, Caitlin Hicks, Howard White, Brian Thomas Isaac, Valdy, Jacqueline Guest, Miranda Krogstad, Deanna Kawatski, Andrew Buickley, Conor Kerr and M.D. Jackson.

Also coming up this weekend, but not part of the festival, Gail Anderson-Dargatz will hold a book signing in Salmon Arm for The Almost Widow. It will take place at Bookingham Palace in the Mall at Piccadilly from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20.
