The United Way used the Downtown Block Party and a good old dunk tank to raise money for their charitable efforts.
The group, its volunteers held a dunk tank event featuring local community leaders as targets.
And it was a popular event, raising $1,600 for the United Way
“This is a huge win for our community,” stated the United Way in a press release. “United Way strives to achieve meaningful, long-term improvements to the quality of life in our communities. It was a great opportunity to dunk a local community leader/celebrity with all proceeds going towards improving lives and building a healthy, strong community.”
Dunk Tank volunteers included:
Brent Mundle – Superintendent of Kelowna RCMP Detachment
Tom Dyas – President of TD Benefits and Board Chair of Kelowna Chamber of Commerce
Jeremy Lugowy - Community Engagement Coordinator at United Way
Travis Lee – Impromptu guest volunteer
Brian Stephenson – Lawyer at Pushor Mitchell
Norm Letnick – Kelowna-Lake Country MLA
