The Shuswap Trail Alliance (STA) is hitting the beaten path to round up sponsors for its upcoming fundraiser.
The STA will not be hosting its popular Trails Party fundraiser in February 2024, though it plans to announce an “exciting new event” in the spring. However, the organization is proceeding with another recurring fundraising initiative, its winter online silent auction, which will be launching Friday, Feb. 2. Organizers have begun eliciting donations, both monetary and/or in the form of auction items. All cash contributions go directly to trail projects throughout the Shuswap, with donors getting a tax receipts for all amounts over $20. The STA asks that Auction2024 be designated in cheque memo lines, or in the message of e-transfers, which can be sent to membership@shuswaptrails.com.
Physical auction items can be dropped off at Shuswap Clothing & Shoe at 330 Alexander Street NE in Salmon Arm, or people can arrange to have them picked up. Other donations that don’t necessarily have a physical form, such as experiences or digital gift certificates, are also gratefully accepted with pictures required for the auction website to showcase the item. Arrangements to deliver those can be made with auction coordinator Sylvia McMahan at auction@shuswaptrails.com or by calling
All action items need to be received by Friday, Jan. 26.
Sponsors are also wanted for the upcoming auction event.
“On behalf of the the Shuswap Trail Alliance auction committee, we would like to thank you for your kind consideration and continued support,” McMahan said in a statement. “Simply put, we could not achieve the collaborative work of building, maintaining and planning trails and greenways without your contributions.”
All items need to be received by Friday, Jan. 26 for the auction that will run from Feb. 2-10. While waiting for those bidding wars, supporters can also take part in an online 50/50 draw that will launch in mid-December and run until Feb. 10 as well.
