A pair of anniversaries were celebrated at the Salmon Arm fairgrounds over the weekend.
To mark this year’s 150th anniversary of the RCMP, the RCMP Musical Ride is performing in 50 communities across the country.
On Saturday, July 1, the Musical Ride was in Salmon Arm for the first of three weekend performances at the city’s fairgrounds. The show was a celebration of both the RCMP and the nation.
The sold-out Saturday Canada Day show began with performances by the A.L. Fortune Drumline, the All My Relations First Nations Dance Group and the Kalmalka Highlanders Pipe Band, followed by the main event, where the Musical Ride’s 32 riders and horses performed intricate formations and drills set to music.
Two more shows were performed Sunday, July 2, at the fairgrounds, all of which were organized and hosted by Salmon Arm & Shuswap Lake Agricultural Association, the Rotary Club of Salmon Arm and the City of Salmon Arm.
