The Kelowna Flying Club and its members of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) are once again hosting the COPA for Kids Aviation Program.

Kids take flight for free.

On Saturday, youth between eight and 17 can fly for free during the COPA For Kids aviation program at the Vernon Flying Club from 8 a.m. until noon.

The Canadian Owners and Pilots Association sponsors the event, which starts with the kids spending two hours learning about airplanes, flying, and the Vernon Airport and ends with a flight in a small airplane.

With the permission from their parents, kids are greeted by Vernon Flying Club members at the airport before attending a short course for safety and a close up tour of a plane.

After, they are given a log book and a signed record of their flight that is suitable for framing, and to end the day, hot dogs and soda will be provided.

Walk-ins are permitted, but pre-registration is highly recommended due to limited space. To register, call or text 250-306-0526, or e-mail c4k.vernon@gmail.com.
