Oyama Traditional School held its first formal assembly last week welcoming students back and celebrating a new school year.

A number of local dignitaries were in attendance including Lake Country Kiwanis Club President Tom Cockrell.

Cockrell handed out his organization’s TERRIFIC Kid awards and congratulated the recipients on their hard work. The program recognizes students attitude and effort encouraging personality traits such as thoughtfulness, enthusiasm and respect.
