Firefighters change uniform for cancer awareness

Kelowna Fire Department members will be wearing black T-shirts with a pink emblem unit Oct. 15.

Kelowna firefighters will swap their typical uniforms for something a little more colourful for the next month.

From now until Oct. 15, all members of the Kelowna Fire Department will be wearing black t-shirts with a pink emblem while on duty to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“The Kelowna Fire Department and Kelowna Professional Firefighter’s Association are always happy to partner with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness,” said Jason Picklyk, a Kelowna firefighter.

More information about breast cancer and prevention is available at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s website, cbcf.org.
