This historic photo is of Winfield's Adventureland the first attraction of its kind in the Okanagan. Adventureland was the creation of Sam and Dorothy Pestes and started to take shape in the late 1960's. The family attraction was located alongside Hwy 97 and Wood Lake (what is now Pelmewash Parkway) on thirty acres of land. One of the highlights of the park was the Super Slide, a 175 foot tall, high speed thrill ride for all ages! Adventureland closed in the early to mid-1980s.
