New recruits sign on with Sun

BCFC club gets commitments from 19 new players for the 2017 season.

The Okanagan Sun has bolstered its roster for the 2017 season with the signing of 19 new recruits.

The list of signees includes three local Kelowna players, while adding 10 players to the Sun offence and nine to the team’s defence.

Players to commit on June 1, BCFC signing day were:

• Dakota Cartier, WR, Kelowna—Cartier is 6-foot-0, 160 pounds and a graduate of the KSS Owls high school program.

• Steven Johnson, WR, West Kelowna— At 6-foot-3, 165 lbs, Johnson is a graduate of the Mount Boucherie Bears high school program.

• Jack Lawson, DB, Kelowna—The 5-foot-11, 180 pound Lawson is a graduate of the KSS Owls high school program.

• Carter Comeau, OL, Riverton, Man.—At 6-foot-6, 330 pounds the 21-year-old is a former hockey player and current BCHL linesmen, and comes to the Sun without previous competitive football experience.

· Ryan Ewashko- DB- Winnipeg, Man.—Ewashko is listed at 5’8”/170 lbs, and is a graduate of the Kelvin Clippers high school program.

• Tim Curren, DL, Calgary—Curren is one of two recruits who have graduated from the Centennial High School program.

• Aiden Hennessy, FB, Calgary—The 6-foot-0, 240 pound Hennessy is the other recruit coming out of the Centennial High School program.

• Javen Kaechele, Calgary—The 18-year-old is a graduate of the Crescent Heights High School program, where he played both quarterback and wide receiver. As such, Kaechele is currently listed under the “athlete” designation, with the coaching staff still yet to decide where he’ll suit up.

• Miguel LaForge, OL, Edmonton—At 6-foot-5, 309 pounds Laforge brings some CJFL experience to the Sun, as he was a recruit of the Edmonton Wildcats last year.

• Miguel Wood, LB, Chilliwack—Originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Wood is a graduate of the G.W. Graham high school program.

• Matthew Panattoni, LB, Saskatoon—Panattoni is a graduate from the Aden Bowman Collegiate high school program.

• Teagen Anderson, LB, Moose Jaw, Sask.—Anderson is a graduate out of the A.E. Peacock Collegiate high school program.

• Cole Paradzik, WR, Saskatoon—Paradzik is a graduate of the Evan Hardy Collegiate high school program.

• Mitch Lyons, DL, Saskatoon—Lyons is listed at 5-foot-11, 250 lbs, and is a graduate of the Bishop Mahoney Saints high school program. Lyons has also suited up with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

• Kyle Zale, OL, Saskatoon—Zale is 6-foot-2, 280 pounds and is a graduate of the Walter Murray Collegiate high school. Zale also played for national championship-winning Saskatoon Hilltops during the 2015 season.

• Nico Muskego- DB- Ste Rose Du Lac, Man.—Muskego is a member of the Ebb & Flow First Nation in Manitoba. He also has experience playing in the CJFL, as he was part of the Winnipeg Rifles team in 2015.

• Mitch Prawdzik- LB/DL- Dauphin, Man.—Prawdzik is a former member of the Rural Manitoba Football League, where he won a league championship with the Dauphin Clippers.

• Tanner Sudo- RB- Lethbridge, Alta.—Sudo is a graduate of the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute high school program. Sudo is also on Football Canada’s roster for its Under-19 national team.

• Marco Beasley, OL, Edmonton—Beasley is listed at a whopping 6-foot-7, 270 pounds, and is a graduate of the Ross Sheppard High School Thunderbirds high school program.
