I would like to share my gratitude towards many people; their spirit, thoughts, and actions. Over the last couple of seasons I have been a repeated patient in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Some longer stays and some shorter. I share a heartfelt thank you towards the staff in all departments and the volunteers who were very knowledgeable, understanding, caring, helpful, supportive and always had my well being and healing mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually as the priority.

I also share my gratitude with the hospital that I was welcomed to return to the hospital as a volunteer. Visiting patients who my not have family/friends to come and visit them sharing positive healing energy, hope, tears, conversation, a smile and laughter.

I also share my gratitude with the Stroke Recovery Association of British Columbia (SRABC). Joining you at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall (5101 25th Ave.) in Vernon Thursday mornings 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. You all shared a friendly welcome with me to be part of a supportive group of stroke survivors and their caregivers and providers. You let me know you could relate to what I have been through because you have had and been through similar experiences and outcomes. I am emotional each day, being reminded that there is life after stroke and many blessings to be part of.

I share gratitude with Kindale Thrift store (3322 31st Ave.) in Vernon being welcomed as a volunteer to be a supportive part of the community I live in. Giving back allows me to get out of my head, my own stuff and be part of something much bigger than myself. I also share a huge thank you to all those who choose to donate to Kindale and also choose to shop, allowing all the good works to be shared in the community.

As I am medically not able to drive I share gratitude with the city staff, private companies and home owners who kept the sidewalks clear of ice and snow to support walking and getting around safely and with piece of mind. Weather using a walker, cane, or unassisted. This walking supports my healing, balance, physio and occupational therapy.

I truly and honestly share my heartfelt gratitude and joy with family and friends near and far who have shared positive energy, prayers, support, medical clarity, living in the moment, rides to all my appointments/shopping, and keeping my sense of humor. I apologize that my jokes getting better was not a result of my stroke.

There are so many people who I come in touch with each day I am in the community. I do not know who you are or even your name. You share a smile and friendly hello and brighten my day.
