UPDATE: No criminality in discovery of body in Vernon

UPDATE 1:45 p.m.:

As a result of the investigation, criminality is not suspected in the person ‘s death and the BC Coroners service has been engaged and is conducting their own concurrent factfinding investigation.

“Our sincerest and most heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer.

Out of respect for the privacy of the family, no further details will be released.

ORIGINAL 7:30 a.m.:

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are investigating a body that was found early Wednesday morning.

Around 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 10, the RCMP received a report of a dead body found in the 4200 block of 34th Street.

We’re now in the process of securing the scene and additional resources are being directed to the location to assist with the investigation, said Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski. We’re only in the very early stages of our investigation but based on what we know so far, there does not appear to be any risk to the public.
