Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes.

For the Coast Capital help heroes, wearing a cape and giving back to the community goes hand in hand.

The members spent their afternoon mixing granola and handing out backpacks for kids at the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club’s downtown youth centre.

Coast Capital branch manager Bonnie Kilistoff said “we’re all about help and superheroes are there when you need them. We thought it was a fun way to give back to the community.”

The help heroes have been performing small community tasks like bagging groceries and buying people coffee in honour of their new branch opening in Kelowna.

Drop-in program coordinator for the club, Philly Putlitz said the kids are in need of essential items, such as deodorant and underwear, which Coast Capital included inside the backpacks.

“They asked us what do we need and we said we need those hygiene products,” she said.

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Club is for youth ages 13 to 19 and provides support for those up to 24-years-old. The organization provides support to families, children, youth and communities, said Putlitz.
