The Central Okanagan Board of Education will be discussing catchment changes for A. S. Matheson Elementary, École Casorso Elementary and Raymer Elementary at its Wednesday night meeting.

Currently, A.S. Matheson is in an open catchment boundary with École Casorso Elementary and Raymer Elementary.

“The open catchment area was originally created to manage student enrolment and to populate the surplus space,” reads a report that will be presented during Wednesday night’s regular board meeting.

Recently, the board approved a catchment change for middle schools on the same area by redirecting Grade 6 students at A.S. Matheson Elementary to KLO Middle School from Dr. Knox Middle School.

The change comes into effect September, 2017.

“The adjustment will be a three-year transition that will result in the ASM families being geographically closer to KLO and will provide additional space to allow for the growth of a French Immersion program at Dr. Knox,” reads the report.

The approved change of the middle schools allows an opportunity to review and potentially reestablish the elementary catchment areas, according to the report.
