Three members of the Carr’s Landing Community and Recreation Association left a meeting with the District of Lake Country feeling positive, Nov. 16.

The district met with members to discuss the contentious land near Gable Beach North which the municipality aims to sell in order to reduce Kelowna’s interest in Lake Country rail trail lands.

Cara Reed, a resident of Carr’s Landing, called the meeting “very constructive and positive.”

“I’m looking forward to going further on that. I don’t think anything is going to happen for the next few weeks but it’s good to get the ball rolling.”

The beach has been a controversial issue in Lake Country, with around 50 residents gathering to protest the sale of the land near Gable Beach during a council meeting, Nov. 7.

The negotiated amount for the properties was $1.34 million. The bylaw involving the contentious beach was deferred by district council at its last meeting.

According to Matt Vader, district manager of strategic and support services, the meeting went well and there are no meetings scheduled for the near future.
