To help foster the growth and sustainability of smaller ski areas, Big White Ski Resort has donated $5,000 to the Canada West Ski Areas Association’s (CWSAA) Small Ski Areas Fund.

The initiative focuses on the development and operational capabilities of community and family-operated ski areas in Western Canada.

Big White Senior VP, Michael J. Ballingall, noted the funds will play a crucial role in empowering small ski areas.

“This donation provides these ski areas with the opportunity to enhance their safety and risk management practices, further their education, including industry certification and training for new instructors, and actively participate in CWSAA functions and events.”

Other players, including Lake Louise Ski Resort, Sunshine Ski Resort, and Whistler Blackcomb, alongside individual donors, contributed approximately $38,000 at this year’s CWSAA conference.

The fund has been a crucial resource for many communities as it aids in educating team members, enhances safety protocols, and ensures participation in industry events.
