Come sharpen your music skills and get behind-the-scenes with Imani Winds.

On Saturday, April 1, the Chamber Music Kelowna Society is hosting a free educational outreach program for students and adults called Musical Journey Around the World with featured artists Imani Winds.

The group will perform and discuss various pieces and musical styles throughout the demonstration. From 1 to 1:50 p.m. the public will have the rare opportunity to experience this awarding winning chamber ensemble up close and personal at the Mary Irwin. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

Later at 7:30 p.m., the evening concert will commence in the same theatre. The program, Tradition and the Innovative will feature the Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn, Carl Nielsen’s Prelude, Theme and Variations from Wind Quintet, Op. 43, and Paquito d’ Rivera’s Kites.

Ticket holders can expect to hear North America’s premier wind quintet in an exciting and varied concert of the highest caliber states Lorna Paterson, CMK’s Artistic Director. A few tickets for the performance may still be available by contacting the Rotary Centre for the Arts at 250-717-5304.
