GESS hosts Kiwanis Music Festival bands
George Elliot Secondary School hosted the band portion of the Kelowna Kiwanis Music Festival over three days last week.
More than 1,000 students from the Okanagan Valley, Alberta, Vancouver and Vancouver Island competed in six categories at Creekside Theatre.
George Elliot Secondary School entered groups in five of those categories: Grade 8 concert band, Grade 9 concert band, senior concert band, junior jazz band and senior jazz band.
All of them won their categories. In addition, the senior concert band was awarded Most Outstanding Group of the festival. Mount Boucherie Secondary School won the B400 category.
