Briefs: Kiwanis offer hanging flower baskets

The Kiwanis Hanging Basket sale returns May 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The annual Kiwanis Hanging Basket sale returns May 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Mission Creek Alliance Church in Kelowna.

The baskets are by Byland’s Garden Centre and are priced at $27 each.  Typically the proceeds go to benefit local children, but this year the proceeds are for children’s cancer research at B.C. Children’s Hospital. Locals can reserve their baskets through Chris Thatcher at 250-860-9921.

 

GESS Drama

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is coming to the Creekside Theatre courtesy of the George Elliot Full Moon Theatre Company.

This student production of the classic Roald Dahl book is scheduled to run May 9, 10, 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. There is a matinee on May 12 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for students and $5 for children 12 and under at the door or email dan.brochu@sd23.bc.ca.

 

Fintry Plant Sale

The Fintry Plant Festival on the grounds of the Manor House is May 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Plants, seeds and produce will be on sale, together with arts and crafts by Westside residents, with local musicians and games for children on the front lawn.  The North Westside Fire Fighters will show off their new fire boat.  Lunch is available from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tours are included with a minimum donation of $5.
